Optima is Ingmar Relling’s last major launch from
1988, the result of an emergent collaboration between father and son, Knut
Relling. Optima follows on naturally from Ingmar Relling’s design understanding
and construction principles. As a humanist, the supreme perspective of his work
was that the items he designed should be useful to people in their daily lives;
not just a question of shape, but far more importantly of content and quality of
life.
With Optima, Ingmar Relling delivers exemplary proof of this outlook. Here he
provides evidence of superb harmony in which form actually follows function,
reflecting precisely the essence of the functionalist. Simplicity and stringent
but logical expression infuse Relling chairs with their unique character. They
clearly carry the signature of a great master.

kirschfarbenen Buchenholzschenkeln und pulverbeschichteter Stahlrohrsitzeinheit,
stufenlos ausziehbare Sitzfläche, Rückenlehne durch Gasdruckfeder
stufenlos neigbar, integriertes Kopfkissen mit besonders weichem
Nappaleder, Nähte ausgeführt als edle und sehr teuere Doppelnaht (bei dieser
Naht sind die Sichtnähte Ziernähte, die eigentliche Funktionsnaht befindet sich
geschützt im Innern) bzw. als hochwertige Kedernähte.

TRAINING
Trained as interior architect and furniture designer at Statens Håndverks- og
Kunsthøgskole, SKHS (the national school of arts and crafts), taught by, among
others, Arne E. Holm and Arne Korsmo 1943-47.
Relling worked for seven years from the age of 16 at Vestlandske Møbelfabrikk
in his home district until he started at SKHS, inspired by his brother Adolf.
After he passed his diploma he was employed at the drawing office of Rastad
& Relling a/s in Oslo before opening his own practice at Møre in 1950. For
the first few years, Relling worked as an interior architect, fitting out, among
others, schools, hotels and churches. His major works include the restoration of
Skodje Church in collaboration with the Keeper of the National Antiquities, and
internal work at Ålesund Library and the Hotel Noreg in the same town. Since
1960, Relling dedicated himself entirely to furniture design, developing his
skills through collaboration with the industry to become Norway’s most
internationally famous and recognized furniture designer, as well as one of the

furniture.

Der Lederbezug hat selbstverständlich keinerlei Flecken, Kratzer, Risse oder
Löcher und ist vollkommen geruchsneutral. Auch der Rahmen und die
Schenkel befinden sich in einem ausgezeichneten Zustand. Mängel gibt es
Nicht! Es ist eine 1 ohne wenn und aber! Der neue Besitzer wird noch Jahre, wenn
nicht Jahrzehnte, daran Freude haben.

Diese Ausführung ist heute
nicht mehr erhältlich. Um einen Anhaltspunkt zu geben, der Optima mit
Chromschenkel kostet zurzeit ab 3564,-
EUR wobei die Ausführung mit kirschfarbenen
Buchenholzschenkel aufgrund der deutlich höheren Fertigungskosten noch erheblich
